2017 has been dominated by the sale of NOONAN to Bidvest, the South African services, trading and distribution giant writes Interconnective’s Bobby Logue. This can only be viewed as a positive acquisition, which will allow NOONAN to continue to flourish as a market leader within the private security industry.
NOONAN was initially set up in 1977 to provide cleaning services to the public and private sectors in Ireland. By 2001, the reputable organisation had established a security division in order to satisfy the demands within this particular sector. Having made previous acquisitions within Ireland, NOONAN entered the U.K market in 2004 with the purchase of Footprint Contract Cleaning Company. NOONAN have gone on to further establish themselves within the security industry through the acquisition of Federal Security in 2009, the Resource Group in 2014 and Ultimate Security in 2017.
Flagship Idea
In terms of further developments within our industry, 2017 saw the announcement of Cordant Group’s plan to become a social enterprise. In an exciting move, Cordant Group, which currently employs over 150,000 colleagues in total, announced plans to reinvest the majority of its profits into social programmes across education, employment, and healthcare. Concerns have been raised regarding the level of entry and lack of career progression within our industry, however Cordant’s plan appears to be a flagship idea which can only be beneficial for the private security industry in the future.
